Mountain Biking Trails

Michigan

My main love in cycling is technical single track, that is tight and twisty but still flowing, in keeping with this, my favorite trails in Michigan are the enigmatic Ann Arbor Local Loop (A.K.A. the Loop of Pain), and Torn Shirt and Murray Lake at the Brighton State Recreation Area. Information about these trails can be found here...

North East Area Park Part of the Ann Arbor Local Loop, recently rerouted to accommodate the addition of a children's playground, soccer field and this weird climbing object (on the playground). Personally, i think it is even better than it was before, still a little rough around the edges but wearing in nicely. (linked to the MMBA trail guide)
Brighton State Recreation Area I haven't ridden the trail in a while, but it was a lot of fun, up, down all around a nice trail. (linked to the MMBA trail guide)
The Poto Perhaps one of the most famous trails in michigan. Old school fall line construction has led to considerable erosion over the years of HEAVY use. The trail rolls very fast, and can be flat out dangerous at times to a less experienced rider. However, the trail is so well known for a very good reason, it is an incredible trail. Massachusetts

Massachusetts riding takes the term technical to a new level, some nice trails that I rode were the Robert Frost trail (which I believe goes all the way from the Berkshire Mountains to New Hampshire and Vermont), the trails on Orchard Hill on the UMass Campus, and my favorites down at the Notch Park off Bachelor Street. My favorite trails there are roller coaster, Jacob's Ladder, Serpent God and Serpentine.

Eric Barne's Maps Trail map of the Holyoke range in Massachusetts. Very useful if you are in the area, and looking for some good riding. (dial up beware, image intensive!)
